CUSTOM MAUSER .30-06 Metalwork: Tom Burgess, Stockmaking: Dennis Erhardt, Engraving Jerome Glimm -
The previous owner bought a 1909 Argentine Mauser barreled by pioneer metalsmith Tom Burgess of Kalispell, MT and so marked. The stock blank of Australian English walnut was purchased from Jerry Fisher. The parts were given to gunmaker Dennis Erhardt of Helena, MT who completed the metalwork and crafted the trim and stylish sporter stock.
FL Right-
The barrel is a Douglas XX, 1-10 twist, 24” long with an excellent bore. The action has been detail polished inside and out and it fitted with a three-position wing type safety. It has a Blackburn adjustable steel trigger, nicely contoured trigger guard with an in-the-bow floorplate release for the hinged floorplate. The bolt handle is by Tom Burgess and the bottom of the barrel has his hallmark dated 1992.

Burgess number marks-
Custom scope bases were made and fitted by Erhardt for Talley scope rings. The rifle has a Leupold M8 6X scope in great condition. Ball type sling swivel bases are mounted in the toe of the stock and on the barrel.
Action L no stock-
The stock is very dense and well figured fiddleback English walnut with excellent layout for strength and stability. The LOP is 13 ¾” and the stock is fitted with an engraved Fisher grip cap and a Biesen checkered steel buttplate. The stock has a double hooked cheekpiece with a beaded edge and checkered 24 lpi in a point pattern with mullered borders. The checkering meets on top of the grip and wraps around the forend.
Checker to checker-
The rifle has attractive scroll engraving by Jerome Glimm of Conrad, Montana, signed on floorplate.
Floorplate-
The rifle weights 8 lb. 7 oz. and the barrel is marked on top “D.A. Erhart, Maker”.
Stock Length L-

Mauser 30-06 moose 2-
This Mauser was built as a hunting rifle for an Alaska wildlife biologist who shot a moose with it. It remains in overall excellent condition with minor scratches and dings in the stock and just slightly faded rust bluing. An invoice from Dennis Erhardt can be provided to the buyer.
